Doral Desert Princess Resort Completes Renovation
This month, the Doral Desert Princess Resort in Palm
Springs has completed a $1.2 million dollar renovation of both public and
private areas ranging from new elevator landing furniture to plush meeting
room foyer furniture.
Concepts 4, Inc., a Long Beach-based
interior design firm, began the renovation in October 2003. The design
team used "desert" colors to accentuate the palette. Shades of sand and
camel mimicking the neutral backdrop are juxtaposed with charcoal, silver
and deep burgundy. New stain resistant carpet with a 10-year warranty,
becoming an industry trend, adorns all public areas including the Mesquite
Ballroom, guest room corridors, the Fairway Café, Gift Shop, Fitness
Center, Business Center and the Airline Hospitality Room.
All
285-guest room doors were replaced with a natural birch door with a warm,
honey finish. Other guest room renovations include new ceramic
desert-shade bathroom floor tiles accented by gold undertones representing
the sun. This subtle color combination is also inherent in the new guest
room granite vanity countertops.
New furniture in The Lobby and
meeting room foyers blends in well with the desert surroundings. The
contemporary furniture features clean lines with many of the tables
revealing stone tops. Camel roman shades with valiances complete the light
and airy casual California ambiance.
Located on a 345-acre,
27-hole championship golf course, the Doral Desert Princess Resort offers
scenic vistas of lakes filled with koi fish and ducks, endless palm trees
and a backdrop of majestic mountains. Complimentary shuttle service to and
from the airport is offered as well as drop-off and pick-up to downtown
Palm Springs. The resort features 23,000-square-feet of versatile indoor
and outdoor meeting space. A 5,000-square-foot poolside patio provides a
postcard view of the surrounding mountains. The resort's Convention
Services Manager and staff custom design each event ranging from
Moroccan-inspired receptions to a "Karaoke club" in Divots Lounge.
In addition to the resort's championship golf course, other
recreational amenities include: 10 tennis courts (half let for night
play); an Olympic-size pool, two hot tubs, volleyball court, two
racquetball courts and The Fitness Center. The Fairway Café is open daily
for breakfast, lunch and dinner and showcases executive chef Mark Curry's
California fusion cuisine; the Cabana Bar offers a limited poolside menu;
and Divots Lounge provides a relaxing nightly ambiance with popular
appetizers and a 60-inch big screen television.
